I threw a cast net
into the universe
and captured shards
into the universe
and captured shards
filled with memories
that made me who I am today.
You threw a cast net into the ocean
and caught fish flailing
dancing for your mercy
and their freedom.
I told you things and waited
for you to exhale when
I saw you hold your breath.
I danced in your light
standing away from the shadow
letting you in to the insecurities
and ugliness
I didn't fear your judgement
I only feared that your love
would wilt and die away.
that made me who I am today.
You threw a cast net into the ocean
and caught fish flailing
dancing for your mercy
and their freedom.
I told you things and waited
for you to exhale when
I saw you hold your breath.
I danced in your light
standing away from the shadow
letting you in to the insecurities
and ugliness
I didn't fear your judgement
I only feared that your love
would wilt and die away.
I feel the tension of waiting and letting our loved one come up for air, filled with their own wisdom ~ Some shadows & challenges do make us stronger ~
ReplyDeleteHave a good day Ayala ~

ReplyDeletehappy sunday ayala....
Deletehope the start of the new week is a good one for you...
Hope you have an amazing week :)
DeleteMyself judges me harshly, so that she has learned not to judge. And Ayala, I have learned that in real love is trust--an absence of fear. Hard to come by, easier to lose, and SO difficult to renew, but God's Power is not to be limited...kike your poem, it says so much to so many!
ReplyDeletethis says so much Ayala! The universe the ocean two elements so very similar and we put out our wishes, desires, hopes and dreams and throw them to the stars then catch whatever comes back to us in hopes that we find a love that lasts forever. Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteit's brave to let someone in to our insecurities and so precious when the other loves regardless...
ReplyDeletejust thought i'd stop by and wish you a lovely, lovely sunday...smiles
DeleteHappy Sunday :) and thank you.
DeleteVery nice. If you share insecurities with someone, and they treat them with trust and respect, that is a person you want to keep in your life. This is a true friend, perhaps a soulmate.
ReplyDeleteWe are blessed when we can find someone we can be totally honest, especially when it concerns our weaknesses. "I didn't fear your judgement / I only feared that your love / would wilt and die away" - beautiful lines.
ReplyDeleteYour opening is as wise and right as can be!

how wonderful it is to be able to truly be yourself and be accepted without judgement.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful description of your trust and vulnerability.
ReplyDeleteThe dance of intimacy quite nicely written!
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful rendition of how it feels to open up to someone on the deepest of levels... heartfelt, poignant, and lovely.
ReplyDeleteSo vivid and truly uplifting.
ReplyDeleteOh, there is such a risk in sharing our hearts. And you know just how to put that vulnerability into beautiful words, ayala.
ReplyDeleteWith trust much can come due, sometimes not the best things, but have to take the risk
ReplyDeleteI liked the opening of throwing out a cast net into the universe..there is so much to be found in such a cast..The first 4 lines really pulled me in..
ReplyDeleteWhen we cast our net into the universe there is never any certainty what i will capture...Beautiful expression of life in this
ReplyDeleteDoes love breath air or water? We are all fishing for something.
ReplyDeletevery poignant!
ReplyDeleteEnticing poem...inviting us in to share an intimate fear or thought.
ReplyDeletei like the whole gamut of emotions.....i feel it's really depressing to be at someone's mercy or gasping for freedom...a beautiful write up and so thought provoking...
ReplyDeleteThe opening line of your poem is so evocative. It conveys so much in such a beautiful cadence. I love how this poem coaxes us to reveal our vulnerabilities.
ReplyDeleteYes, let's capture those shards and bring the universe into one, again. The concept of tikkun is so powerful and at the moment seems so unreachable.
ReplyDeleteSo much to suffer. yet, so much to lose without the risk
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Ayala - thanks for the visit
I love the line "I danced in your light.". Lovely poem
