Love,
I know you
like the first sentence in a
poem I walk into.
Love,
I know you like a wave in the ocean
washing over me,
like the wind in my hair,
like mom's baking.
Love
I know you
like the breath I inhale,
like a song I hum,
like the sand in my feet,
like a dream I had
dreamt last night .
Love,
I know you,
like Sunday ,
like sunrise on vacation,
like the taste of my childhood.
Love,
I know you,
like coming home,
like rolling in the mud,
like banana ice cream,
like lemon,
unmistakable,
distinct,
irreplaceable,
defined.
My love fierce,
my love eternal,
my love yours
completely.
This is wonderful!! I'm inspired both by the choosing of tangibles to bring to life the intangible, but I love the different things you chose! Such joy!
ReplyDeletethis made me smile. love is a wonderful thing to know....love like sunday was a cool line as well....i like the build in intensity as well in the end....what a treat as well to get another poem by you this week...smiles.

Like rolling in the mud? WOW! Now THAT'S "real love"!
ReplyDeleteLove, I know you--repetition is nice. In fact, is it not true (maybe not!) that before one can love, one must KNOW.
A good argument for religion, teaching about God. Of course it is possible to know a higher power w/o/ being "taught", but it takes so lonnng.
Still smiling over "rolling in the mud..." :-)
Extremely beautiful lines..love with so many faces..so many comparatives...the first line only portrays the strength of your poem..:)
ReplyDeleteSo much security here, nice to hear- unmistakable, eternal. I hope you're feeling good.
