The last twenty four hours devastation,
fierce swirling clouds across the land.
Violent and unforgiving, the tornadoes blind
to the innocent, to the weak.
Injuries and death, crushed lives everywhere.
Homes folded like unglued cardboard boxes,
debris flying, strewn like colorless confetti.
I weep to feel their heartbreak.
I hope for a better tomorrow,
a tomorrow that will heal them,
a tomorrow that will bring peace.
Nice feelings Ayala. Wish your prayers work in our world gone all harsh.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the reminder. So easy to go about life, as normal, when it isn't and might not be for these people. So scary and so sad.
ReplyDeleteyeah i hear you...one hit about an hour south of us and destroyed houses and took lives...nothing like those further west but...prayers..
ReplyDeleteAs I was reading this, the new princess was standing at the edge of westminster abbey and cheers were sounding and confetti was flying in the air above the crowd. Such contrast. Poignant call to pray and remember. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteSometimes the only thing that gets me through a time like this is to know that the next 24 hours will be different than the last.
ReplyDeleteSo heartbreaking. My prayers are with them.
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful writing.
ReplyDeleteAyala, this is a great reminder. The closer it gets to our own back yard the scarrier it is, but the truth is, even when far away, it is devastating many lives. How heartbreaking!!!
ReplyDeletePainful but beautiful. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI but wish I could live closer so I could physically help all those in need.
ReplyDeleteI know...so sad...yet so heartening to know there are people like you who empathize so deeply.
ReplyDeleteFor me, it's yet another (upon many) reminder that mother nature doesn't mess around; that we should respect her.
I was waiting on such pins and needles throughout these tornadoes - have plenty of friends down south myself, and to think of all the destruction and hardship going on down there without hearing from them...maddening. Glad to hear you're alright, and furthermore, that it is fueling such poetry in you.
ReplyDeleteIt has been a horrendous 24 hours for some who're devastated by the tornadoes and yet the world now is a-buzz with the royal wedding. It's a crazy world we live in.
ReplyDeleteWe had only 80 km winds yesterday - I can't imagine the devastation of a tornado
ReplyDeleteAlaya,
ReplyDeleteSuch and tragedy, and you wrote it down in such a good way. I join you in wishing the victims of those storms will find a way to heal.
Namaste..........cj

ReplyDeleteNamaste.
Important to call attention to the tornados and the devestation. It is certainly heartbreaking what they are going through. I thought this line was especially powerful "Homes folded like unglued cardboard boxes,
ReplyDeletedebris flying, strewn like colorless confetti."
Thank you,Rudri. Many lives shattered which is so sad.
ReplyDeleteThe last twenty-four hours wreaked havoc,
ReplyDeletemay the next twenty-four be peaceful.
Melissa,
ReplyDeleteone word-Amen!
"Violent and unforgiving"
ReplyDeleteNo one deserves that~especially when there is no escape. My heart breaks for those families.
if I am speechless
ReplyDeleteit's not reserved apathy

ReplyDeleteThis seems to be a time of upheaval in so many ways. It feels like perhaps a birthing of a new world consciousness. I hope so.
ReplyDeleteme, too...
ReplyDeletemay it be so Ayala, let the healing begin.
ReplyDeleteOh Ayala - it has been devastating hasn't it? Up in Ottawa we had a bad wind storm that knocked down trees, etc. across the city. But nothing like what has happened across the U.S. Your words are a pointed reminder of this.
ReplyDeleteBrook, I wonder....
ReplyDeleteLeslie, I know....
ReplyDeleteLaura, I hope the healing can begin!
ReplyDeleteMel, so many people going through such difficult impossible times :(
