Struggle

Walk a thousand miles
to learn a lesson,
not seeking perfection,
but seeking to be more human.
Pebbles on the road,
trials and tribulations along the way,
a life well lived.
I wish I could see the world
through your eyes.
I want to feel your beating heart,
when you feel fragile,
when you feel exposed,
when I hear your voice tremble with doubt .
Let the wind whisper in your ear,
let your inner compass guide you.
Stand in the rain,
embrace the storm.
Struggle will bring tranquility,
struggle will bring wisdom.

  2. It is only through a struggle that the butterfly is born but how beautiful it is once it has gone through that awful trial. So it is with us, (hopefully) we learn and we grow from all of those trials and struggles placed on our life's path.
This is beautiful poetry and wonderfully said.

  11. They are fortunate they have your heart. Perhaps more, they have your words.

It seems there are few who are willing to see the world as it is seen through the eyes of those struggling, truly struggling.

A nice write, compassion out of a different perspective.

    Cheers!

  13. I reread that first sentence (four lines) several times. Just sat with it. Didn't want to leave it to move on...then felt the pebbles and the struggles. Such a thoughtful tribute to the "process" the "journey" ~ just lovely.

  19. It's the idea in those last lines that often make us shybaway, but I love how you remind us that struggle often brings out those inner resources that we barely know we have until we are tested. At the same time, it's important to walk in another's shoes, see the world from their eyes to truly understand them.
