My Rant

A penny for your thoughts,
a dime for your poem,
what are we all searching for?
A pedestal to stand on,
a mention,
a comment,
or to leave a mark on this world?
To scatter our thoughts which
we claim to be true,
wisdom learned from
pain and living.
We all learned a lesson
or two,
perhaps several lessons.
We have been there at one time or another,
lied to,
cheated on,
betrayed,
abandoned.
We are all connected,
I feel your pain,
sharp on my skin.
This is not my war,
but I have fought other battles,
and if this gate is open
I will run towards you.
I will lift you
with a kind word,
a smile that warms you,
I will scatter sunshine
 on your cloudy days.
I will let distress and bitterness
dissipate.
I want to save one soul,
one life,
one dream,
today.

  3. This, my friend, is who you are. And all that I hope to be - someone who honestly, gently connects with one person at a time. No need for crowds, applause, recognition...nope. Just a hug or a kind word.

  4. Ayala, this is a wonderful philosophy. So many times when I read someone else's poem I find myself nodding, if not from my own personal experience at least from my empathy. I agree that a smile or a kind word is a gift of sunshine for the poet sometime. You live your philosophy. I know that.

  5. i too think we can connect to others in difficult times because of the own difficult times we went through... we know how it feels and what the other needs most...yeah...scattering sunshine on cloudy days sounds like the thing to do...

  19. Yup, Ayala...I agree, that early on, most of us are searching for Something, a purpose, OUR purpose. The WHY of it all.

Then, when I lived through chaos and came out alive--it was all the while God...pruning me, making me ready to serve. (But I did not KNOW that!)

And here and now, it is time to DO Something--help another, spread the news of hope and power, to those who are hopeless and powerless. And if ONE today, hears that message, an is inspired to follow it, then my day has been OH, SO WORTHY!

Thanks for reminding me of so much in your brief well-spelled thoughts.
