Hope

I hold you
and wish your tears away
like a flock of birds flying away.
My desire to wash your pain
is ambitious and unreasonable,
but it is my desire,
even for a moment
or an hour.
I want to hold fireflies in my palm,
so you could smile,
let them play hide and seek with you,
let you dream.
I want your wounded heart to heal
and find solace.
Like a flower
let your petals of sorrow
shed into the wind.
Let the wind carry it
far away from you.
Let the seed of hope
grow in your heart again.

  3. You understand how to "weep with those who weep." So few, do. It is a blessing for those who grieve. Still praying for comfort for all of you. I'm so so sorry.

  5. Beautiful. I think thoughts like this when a loved one is hurting. If only we could stop their pain.

  6. This speaks to a certain helplessness when loved ones are in pain. Physical pain is usually able to be aided; psychological pain and depression leaves loved ones feeling, wanting to do something, and seemingly unable to do so. You get to the center of that feeling here.

  10. Thank you so much for the firefly imagery. It seems to me to represent every magical feeling that exists. I miss the fireflies...where do they go now are they like the bees are they sick too? I hope not I want to see them again so bad. Lovely ayala for that special memory! I also love the way the name ayala feels coming off my mind swirling around inside the inner space of my mouth into air.

  11. Very heartfelt poem. I know that you have had a death in your family recently. I picture this as being for members of the family who are continuing, of course, to grieve. It takes so much time, and this poem could help.

  12. I guess sometimes all we can REALLY do is "be there". That is a lot better than NOT being there.

    Ayala, you have yet in front of you a long life of "being there" for others. A noble mission.
    PEACE and LIGHT

  14. I love that first sentence. Maybe it is unreasonable to want to take pain away. It's more unreasonable not to try. Fireflies might work :)
