On The Island

Silence in my room ,
swaddled in my blanket,
my thoughts drift to him.
The swells are rocking him
to sleep tonight.
His sky speckled with stars,
the silence magnified.
I could feel his heart,
calling mine
as he floats
in his magical paradise.

  2. Deeply felt, deeply tragic poem. It is perfect for anyone that knows loss, and longing--perhaps a mother to her child, or one lover to another...the bodies, they fade, but their voices remain, even in death. Powerful piece.

  4. A very felt poem here...my son is in the Navy...soomewhere by Somalia, chasing pirates. He was a pain in the neck before he left, for the previous two years....but a mother still loves regardless.

  9. I like the idea that, no matter where we are, we can all see the sky speckled with stars. It's such a unifying image amid separation and distance.
