Silence in my room ,
swaddled in my blanket,
my thoughts drift to him.
The swells are rocking him
to sleep tonight.
His sky speckled with stars,
the silence magnified.
I could feel his heart,
as he floats
in his magical paradise.
A profound, sad poem. Thanks for sharing it.ReplyDelete
Deeply felt, deeply tragic poem. It is perfect for anyone that knows loss, and longing--perhaps a mother to her child, or one lover to another...the bodies, they fade, but their voices remain, even in death. Powerful piece.ReplyDelete
being apart...ugh...yet being right there...the rocking of the waves is a very nice touch as i can see the narrator rocking as they thing about it...ReplyDelete
A very felt poem here...my son is in the Navy...soomewhere by Somalia, chasing pirates. He was a pain in the neck before he left, for the previous two years....but a mother still loves regardless.ReplyDelete
Oh we love so much and a boy is something special indeed...to swaddle them and rock to sleep a blessed memory....the sadness taken to heart here...blessings...bkmReplyDelete
The separation and longing is intense, yet there's that beauty in connection that remains.ReplyDelete

I like the idea that, no matter where we are, we can all see the sky speckled with stars. It's such a unifying image amid separation and distance.ReplyDelete
