Spring of Humanity

The seeds of spring
bring me into the journey within.
The colors are the backdrop
to the thoughts taking flight.
I watch the ripples in the pond
of humanity.
We hunger to tell our tale
to share our vision,
to dream,
to nourish our souls.
Dream,
that life can be different.
We share ourselves
bits and pieces all along
hiding our true story
while we drink wine
and taste morsels of life
our road is blurred
by our broken compass.
The hunger lives
the fragments like the
new leaves sprouting.
The scent of spring is
in  the air,
underneath the surface
the desire is boiling
seeking to convey,
rise, connect.
Our well
waiting to bubble.
 I watch with intention,
I inhale the light,
my landscape
full of this moment
and the tales I carry
in my mind.

Saturday night I had the privilege of going to the Literary Feast and later to have dinner with supporters of the public library foundation and  author Dani Shapiro. She is an amazing writer and a beautiful soul. Several people shared that they want to write their story, but they haven't yet. I believe we all have a story to tell.
The art in this post belongs to artist Sunita Khedekar. We are sharing our thoughts on spring at http://dversepoets.com/.

  6. I love this, Ayala--it's mystical, introspective and speaks to the hunger we have to be understood.

  7. This is very touching, Ayala. I so hunger for those 'seeds of spring.' And those tales that one carries in one's mind....yes, that is SO much spring.

  9. Yes, sometimes we do hide our true story, while deeply desiring to share it. I especially liked your opening line; it introduces your piece perfectly!

  11. This reminded me a bit of Jane Eyre and her desire to tell her story. Lovely poem. (Also this is the picture I chose as well!)

  12. You are so right, Ayala...we do all have a story to tell. Spring is a time of renewal and regrowth for nature and us if we so choose. You tell it so well.

  16. So glad you had a chance to meet Dani, Ayala. She is delightful. I met her a few months back at a reading and enjoyed conversing with her.

Love the imagery in your poem. I loved this line in particular, "We share ourselves
    bits and pieces all along
    hiding our true story
    while we drink wine
    and taste morsels of life
    our road is blurred
    by our broken compass."

    Thank you.

  18. We hunger to tell our story, I think we all have a story a dream but, we keep certain parts hidden close to our hearts.

  19. "We share ourselves/bits and pieces all along/hiding our true story" such a poignant observation about how we choose what to reveal about ourselves. I suppose we share more with those we trust, so the amount we share is truly dependent on our relationship with the other. Wonderful poem!

  21. There is truth here--we do have a story to tell, yet we are also drawn to conceal ourselves from others, for various reasons. Well done!

  22. our road is blurred
by our broken compass - love the effect. Great piece Ayala.

  24. happy you had such a wonderful evening!

your write describes to me the point i'm at with my writing. There is so much bubbling inside that i can't seem to break free from the distractions of daily life to free myself totally. but bit by bit some of my soul is released with a poem here and a poem there. You put the struggle into such beautiful words. thank you!

  25. ..."our road is blurred

by our broken compass. " this caught me, took my breath... the whole work, deep with turnings from within...I really enjoyed your beautiful take on this prompt, and your choice of painting.
