My Soul Gentler

I wake up my soul gentler,
my thoughts clearer,
my heart seeking the balance
of dark and light.
I wake up my soul gentler,
her voice echos in my head,
her eyes wounded,
her daughter on drugs,
she is raising her child.
I wake up my soul gentler,
a friend weeps,
placed in the middle like a
ping pong ball
between her son
and the man she loves.
I wake up my soul gentler,
another friend her daughter
fighting for her life.
A sister fighting for her brother,
a victim of a hit and run accident.
I wake up my soul gentler,
I lost another friend to cancer.
Fragments of his life
carried by those he loved,
hope floats through the room
when he is remembered.
I wake up my soul gentler,
the stories change my vision,
change my day,
transform my being.

  1. the stories do...they change the flow of the day...even still we can still choose hope...and accepting too there are things we can not change, helps me to stay afloat...

  4. The sentiment here is so beautiful and true. It resonates with me. The lives of family and friends affect me deeply and their experiences with loss and pain do change me, make me gentler, more compassionate. Great write.

  23. Yes, to each recognition of the gentling of a soul, these troubles often as awesome as an ocean with the waves still coming when enough is enough. Gentle or break, and with grace, we gentle. Nice new verb for me, to gentle.

  25. A gentler soul signifies strength. Please stay a gentle soul. Those people you know are suffering, grieving in one way or another--NEED your strength now. They rely on it. Strength of a gentler soul.

PS...I know you already DO that--grin!
    PEACE and LIGHT, my Friend
