My Valentine,
your breath on mine,
sweet escape,
you fill the pages of my heart.
Gentle when you touch my soul,
you shake my spirit with yours.
Valentine,
you are Sunday,
you are the stars on a Key West night,
you are the cathedral of Muir Woods.
Valentine,
will you still love me
when my mermaid hair turns white.
Will you still love me when my eyes
stop shinning like the stars in the evening sky.
Will you still love me when I am frail and weak,
will you love me for all time,
even if I lose my mind,
even if I no longer know your name
and no longer recognize the sound of your voice.
Valentine,
will you be there for me to lean on,
to warm my days with new memories,
to make your laughter my new soundtrack,
will you be my everything,
will you love me for all time.
I know you will.
Happy Valentine's Day to all of you. This is dedicated to my husband, he is my love and my best friend. We are still young and we enjoy our life and love but I have seen some sad life lessons about life and love. Getting older and some of the sadness involved in that reality. Love takes different shapes. Come and join us here http://dversepoets.com/ where we share our thoughts and our hearts.
Yeah getting old can be a pain, literally haha, glad love still surrounds at your lane.

ReplyDeleteto warm my days with new memories."
For me, the desire to do exactly that is the secret of lasting love - and it;s so much fun making new memories with someone who has shared so much already.
True so good to make new memories with someone we have shared so much. Thank you :)

DeleteThe best thing about a real love is that one doesn't see with the eyes, but with the heart. And in the heart youth springs eternal.

Deletebeautiful! Happy valentine s day to you!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Gloria and I wish you the same :)
DeletePlease forgive me if you don't agree, it is only my opinion, but the whole thing sounds a little needy and whiny. Maybe it is more about how much we love, rather than how much someone loves us? And if he is a man, and you are a woman, you will probably outlive him. And the questions you ask, could they be turned the otherway, and maybe the question is, will you love him when he is old and grey?
ReplyDeleteI think love poems are very hard to write. I might try one one day?
I don't mind your honesty..I welcome it..I wrote this poem this way because I will love him no matter what happens. Thank you and a happy Valentine's Day to you.
