Your spirit will live in the woods,
running wild and free.
Your spirit will dance through
the Sequoia trees.
Your spirit will shine
brightest among the stars.
Your spirit will frolic in
the waves of the ocean.
Your spirit will live in
the house you dwelt in
with your soul mate.
Your spirit will live in your daughters eyes.
Your spirit will live in green vineyards
under a turquoise sky.
Your spirit will live in vibrant
flowers blooming in the spring.
Your spirit will live in
everyone you touched,
your soul soaring high.
Goodbye my friend,
until we meet again.
My cousin Jacob passed away Saturday at 5 A.M. Many of you sent prayers when I first posted this poem http://asunkissedlife-ayala.blogspot.com/2011/10/battle.html. He was a warrior that fought his battle bravely. He was a wonderful human being, a great husband and father. He touched people with his spirit and everyone gravitated toward his kindness and the light in his eyes. Our hearts ache for Rena, Dalia, and Stephanie, his wife and his daughters. Our hearts ache that he left all of us. He will forever be in our hearts.
May he rest in peace.
A beautiful tribute! You have captured his spirit well. He sounds like someone who improved the world by being part of it. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, Ayala.

ReplyDeleteThis tribute really touched my heart. My cousin has cancer as well and was diagnosed a year ago. He is currently "in waiting".
Sounds like a wonderful guy indeed, stupid cancer crap.
ReplyDeleteFrom your Face Book page to here:
ReplyDeleteSound like Jacob's life was mostly "sun-kissed"...and you Alaya, are a "best" eulogizer...because you are honest--and humble.
It takes strong person to fight. It takes a humble one to surrender, to God, to be surely happy, totally and forever.
I will remember your poem when someone close to me parts. It's beautiful and I hope I can write something that imitates it. I am sorry for your loss. Blessings to the family.

ReplyDeleteI am so sorry. My sympathies to you and your family. I like how you repeated the spirit line. It emphasizes the fact that we do go on...that death is not the end.
ReplyDeleteAs you know death is but a part of life...... Such a beautiful poem Ayala..... The circle of life will always come around and someday we will all join together in spiritual communion, no fears, no hesitations, no reservations, just sheer happiness to have shared such wonderful lives together..... As wonderful as life is I know there is something much better waiting for us all.... It's exciting to think that someday I'll be in Heaven where I can hold the hands of all my loved ones, including yours Ayala, without all of the unpleasant suspicions that life causes us to have. Until them I owe to all of them to live life to its fullest because I know they are right here beside me......
