Lines,
borders,
strings
between us
left me alone.
Aching,
burning,
my broken spirit seared.
My pain shifted,
my resolve questioned,
my being a landscape
of emptiness.
Disappointment
does not whisper,
it roars,
it burns the skin and the soul.
Love possesses
the beauty that transcends defeat.
The bitter taste
lingers on my lips
by questioning
all I had believed in.
I can feel the pain of those borders... sometimes I feel that separation is a carving knife.
ReplyDeleteYes....
DeleteTakes spme time that questioning phase. Time though does heal
ReplyDeleteMuch♥️love
Thanks!
DeletePain sure can rise when such borders break and questions arise
ReplyDeleteThanks, Pat.
DeleteYou are right. Disappointment NEVER whispers. It is there roaring in our hearts, roaring in our souls. We might deny it, but it is there and loud.
ReplyDeleteIt’s best to accept how we feel.
DeleteOh so very true....
ReplyDelete'Disappointment
does not whisper,
it roars'
And it causes such pian.
Thanks!
DeleteGood Grief, I hope the pilot pulls out : )

ReplyDeleteHi Audrey...
DeleteLetting go is always so hard. Disappointment is so painful.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by.
DeleteIntense emotions are hard to easily compartmentalize, especially with disappointment roaring in your ears.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteDisappointment
ReplyDeletedoes not whisper,
it roars,
Yes, it roars indeed and sometimes we just want to cover our ears.
Thanks!
Delete"Disappointment does not whisper, it roars". Beautifully expressed, Ayala.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sherry.

Brilliant close on this piece. I think that most of us have tasted that bitter taste. And if we haven't we probably should have. Then again, perhaps a very few are very, very blessed, and pass through this life never feeling compelled to confront our beliefs.
An iconic theme that resonates to the core of what it is to be human ... stunningly rendered.
A thoughtful and gorgeous comment, Wendy. Thank you!
DeleteIt totally roars...
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by.
Deletelovely !
ReplyDeleteThank you, Gloria.
DeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteIt absolutely roars..
ReplyDeleteWow! It sounds like a turning point..perhaps disappointment should be expected? How can it be otherwise? Let not disappointment, or death sneak up on us? Keep the vigil. Sometimes I wonder, when we tell the universe, we know best? A wonderful thoughtful poem...
ReplyDeleteThank you, Annell...it's when we don't see it coming
DeleteThe pain is palpable in this verse, Ayala.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Rudri.
DeleteIt stings. I like disappointment doesn't whisper ... it burns.
ReplyDeleteIt sure does...
DeleteThe lines with greatest impact for me are:
ReplyDeleteDisappointment
does not whisper,
it roars,
Thanks, Rosemary.
DeleteThis is powerful, Ayala; achingly so.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mary.
DeleteI believe in love's healing power ~ Hope you are well Ayala ~
ReplyDeleteEspecially devastating when people believe they are coming to a safe place and face horrors as bad as what they are fleeing. This is not North America, but a terrible aberration that needs to be ousted.
ReplyDeleteSuch a strong write Ayala - full of the essence of the truth of suffering. I admire the strength you have to write this and navigate your way through - all the very best to you...
ReplyDeleteThere is great heartache and pain when borders separate us....a potent poem!
ReplyDeleteThe roar can be deafening! Eventually we can hear again the voice of the Self, upon whom we can rely.
ReplyDeleteVisiting this poem again that I had visited earlier. Strong writing...hard to question all that one believes in.
ReplyDeleteDisappointment certainly roars and it then weakens us and makes it hard to have the resolve to put things right. This is a very emotive piece of writing.
