I drink from the silver
Amethyst chalice
seeking communion.
The roof shelters me
while I wonder if
the cobwebs on my soul
are seen from the heavens.
I walk along the shadows,
silence is a death sentence.
Life lingers on my lips
awakened by the sounds
and colors of poetry,
shaking my senses,
leading me home.
Grace floats unannounced,
it walks lacing her
arm into mine.
Grace never tarnished,
stands alone
on wings of hope,
failure is a lesson.
Lovely. Thank you. xox
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lindsey. I appreciate it. xox
DeleteA meaningful ending Ayala ~ Grace is never tarnished, waiting for us to receive her with open arms ~ Hey, I love the title ~
ReplyDeletesmiles...a nice spiritual experience in just being....grace is a beautiful thing...and quote controversial at times as well...some nice wisdom nuggets in this....failure is a lesson....
ReplyDeleteGrace is always there. Failure is just another way you found that something doesn't work.
ReplyDeleteInterestingly we both mentioned grace in our poems today. You have written beautiful lines.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful message here--grace is definitely a savior. Thanks. k.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful. It's one of my favorites of yours. I love its serenity, its hope and its ending. Grace exists even in perceived failure.
ReplyDeleteI always feel better after reading soemthing of yours. Love your closing:
ReplyDeleteGrace never tarnished,
stands alone
on wings of hope,
failure is a lesson.
I love how you made grace a character. So beautiful, Ayala. xo
ReplyDeleteA lovely read that also evokes the time of year.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Mark Butkus
i love the life lingering on the lips awakened by the words and color of poetry...
ReplyDeletelove the ending
ReplyDeleteThere was a calmness here, a realization of acceptance. Without failure, what texture would our successes have? They would be dull and void of color...and I always think failure is the color of the bruises...their color fading in time. Which I will thank Grace for. Ayala, this is a thought provoking, tender and beautiful poem.
