Let me run in the rain
with joyful abandon,
like a child
with a sense of anticipation and wonder.
Let me jump into puddles
with my red shinny boots.
Let me taste the rain,
the way I've tasted your tears.
If you see me run,
don't follow,
let me.
I will return,
when I have weathered the storms,
when I have read the tides,
when I have made a seaweed skirt,
and I have plowed my toes into the sand.
Let me escape
so I can be found,
for my soul hungers for peace,
for my soul hungers for more discoveries,
for my soul will always hunger for you.

ReplyDeleteThank you, Brian. Good to play..at any age :)
DeleteI love this. I can relate. I felt this way when I told my mother more than 10 years ago that I wanted to move overseas by myself, after not having ever been more than 15 minutes away from her. But I needed to go away in order to want to be home again.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cecilia. I am glad this resonated with you. It must have been hard for your mom but I am sure that she is happy that you followed your dream.
DeleteLet that child out so inside it doesn't pout

DeleteAyala, you speak language of "EVERYMAN"...because has everyone not been there?
ReplyDeleteThank God I still "suffer from" that sense of anticipation and wonder--really!
Yet, I want to be found, and wish Oh! so, for PEACE! For that I must scrape the rust off my armor.
Steve, you always make me smile, thank you. I am humbled that this resonated with you and that you feel I speak the language of everyman. :) Peace and love.
