The water rolls off my fingers,
as I wash the raspberries,
the same way your words roll
off your tongue.
The raspberries bleed,
my heart bleeds.
Sweating the small stuff
invades our world .
Life is short I always say,
through the tears I see
that if I moved mountains for you,
it would not be enough.
Meet us here http://dversepoets.com/ where we share our thoughts and our hearts.
ugh this is heavy...for some we can never do enough...and that is so unhealthy...us always trying to earn favor...i like the inclusion of the raspberries in this...
ReplyDeleteTrue..thank you, Brian.
Delete"The raspberries bleed,
ReplyDeletemy heart bleeds."
This is really good stuff, Ayala.
Thank you, Mama Zen.
Deletestrong piece, painful realization
ReplyDeleteoh heck...this is a very different voice for you ayala...sad but so strong...
ReplyDeleteThank you, Claudia.
DeleteNo lie, ayala...for some, nothing is enough. I say, throw the berries at them or better yet, eat them yourself. Loved it.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Joy .:)
Deletethis is such a raw, honest, true to life poem... sad but also beautiful. i could feel all of it, just in these few words. well done.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kelly.
DeleteBeautiful poem-- wonderful and charged as in electrically charged work with "raspberries." xxxj
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jen.
DeleteEnough is not enough ... never!
ReplyDeleteBEautiful piece, Ayala
Thank you, Dulce.
DeleteThis is piercing - I cry these tears...and it seems (for me) that just as I can never do/be enough there are always more tears that could be cried. It's a tough battle for me. I know in my head that the not measuring up is the other person's perception problem, and not really mine. Yet the hurt still hurts, and the tears still come. Combining this with your simple task of washing raspberries really settled the hard, more abstract moment, into a tangible, identifiable moment. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAdrienne, your thoughts here touched my heart. You are honest and beautiful, thank you. xoxo
DeleteCompelling, real, honest--you pick the word. This is a wonderfully intimate portrait.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Steve.
Deleteit is in the simple tasks, the dailyness that we sometimes discover the most difficult and important truths...beautiful writing Ayala.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Laura.
DeleteReally a great write Ayala, especially the last line--And although it speaks to me of pain in a relationship, without pain, there is no joy either. Lovely, lovely write
ReplyDeleteThank you, Audrey.
DeleteAyala, we've written from similar threads today. Oh, how words can wound, but perhaps they are what draw us straight to the healing heart of God. I will think of raspberries (offering health or blood?) rolling off tongues like water for a very long time. Powerful image!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cindee. Your poem is lovely.
DeleteAwww... this is a sad write. Sometimes it hurts when our best is still not good enough.
ReplyDeleteVery heart felt.
It does hurt when the best is not good enough...thanks, Bren.
DeleteA lovely though sad post ~ Enjoyed the bleeding words and tearful mountains ~
ReplyDeleteThank you, Grace.
DeleteDaaaaamn..... this is a powerful write... sad but so true at times. The last lines... wow... I hate when you feel nothing you do would ever be enough...
ReplyDeleteThank you, Robert.
DeleteOh...there is a sadness and frustration in this powerful little write that I know so well. You can move mountains...but at the end of the day, they're still mountains, you just get a different view (and usually a better clarity of how futile the effort may be)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Natasha.
Deletemany powerful images here, great lines. Sad but so beautiful in the way you illustrate the emotion here. excellent read. Thanks
ReplyDeleteThank you, Fred.
DeleteYeah so much can be done, but for some it isn't enough, sad indeed.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Pat.
DeleteThis one hurt. Great work.
ReplyDeleteAyala, such a moving piece this is.
ReplyDeleteA hardened heart--without a psychic change--will never know softness of love's giving. It is SO sad.
LOVE and PEACE!
Love and Peace to you my friend.

DeleteNothing will be enough it seems. Enjoy the sweetness of the raspberries as you get them. Short poem but very strong in conveying the emotion of not being able to give enough.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ravenblack.
DeleteGreat visual, so often emotions surface as we do the mundane. I can see both here.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lauren.
DeletePowerful stuff and for some there is never enough...
ReplyDeleteAnna :o]
Wonderful poem on many levels. k.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Karin.
DeleteWashing fruit, preparing food, doing house chores; we seem to find ourselves thinking of the others in our lives. Sometimes it seems as if even moving mountains wouldn't be enough, but we don't know that in the other persons eyes, even our tiniest actions are of immense importance and appreciated more than we can guess. The raspberries are perfect in this poem Ayala.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Chris. I appreciate your thoughts here.
DeleteOh, very sad & beautiful poem! I love raspberries....but so wasted it seems...I agree with Hedge, eat them yourself..heart wrenching words, Ayala
ReplyDeleteThank you, Louise :)

ReplyDeleteLife is so short....
DeleteAyala, this is one of my favorite of yours. Very meaningful.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Victoria.
DeleteAnd raspberries are so deceptively delicate, too. This broke my heart, ayala. Sometimes (though not always) love is not enough.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Talon. Seeing you here made my day.My thoughts and prayers have been with you.
DeleteWhen we are bleeding sometimes the best thing is to move on.
ReplyDeleteraspberries are my FAVORITE berry of all-time. Love them in all forms, in cakes, cookies, jams, jellies, cold drinks. All of summer in one bite of a raspberry.
xoxo
Raspberries are my favorite berry too. :)
