Umbrellas zigzag through
the rain.
The beauty of these Paris avenues
not lost on us.
She says, "I feel like a herd of cattle."
I laugh as I take it all in,
" I feel like a butterfly."
We walk in and out
of museums
filled with wonder,
trying to breathe in some humanity,
into our veins.
As we inhale the timeless art,
drops of our spirit,
seep back into our core.
nice...know claudia will appreciate just coming from rome herself...i so want to go to paris...and get lost...i so would...

lovely share ~
This brought back memories of my daughter's trip to Paris and her sending the most amazing photographs and snippets of her impressions.
ReplyDeleteI love how one feels they're in a herd and the other feels free enough to fly, Ayala.
"I feel like a butterfly." I like that.
ReplyDeleteSo evocative of my own trips to Paris and the museums there. Oh, how I want to go back!
This post brings memories of the museums we visited in France while on our honeymoon. Thanks Ayala.
ReplyDeleteAre YOU really in Paris?
ReplyDeleteAhh, yes, I'd gladly accept an umbrella today in this 106 heat.
Sweet poem, brings drops to my spirit.

ReplyDelete:-)

ReplyDeleteBeautiful. It's so good when you can appreciate art captured in time in all its loveliness in museums

ReplyDeleteBrightest blessings!

Yes, art does that, breathes humanity back into us, makes us see ourselves and the world more clearly. Nicely done, ayala.
ReplyDeleteParis is a magical place to wander through. What a beautiful poem alaya! We were just there last month. Since we had 3 teenagers with us our wandering was mimimal...but still enough to make my heart sing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
so you have been to paris...? great capture of city life...i have been to paris only once...and that's a shame as it's only about a 4 hour drive by car from where i live...think i need to go once again..
ReplyDeleteThank you, Shiela. She is a sweet dog :)
ReplyDeletePat, I was. So many beautiful things to see.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kelvin. I hope the future does take you there. Best wishes sent your way.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Hedgewitch.
ReplyDelete:)
Kristi, it's one of those great places that full of magic.....
ReplyDeleteClaudia, you must go back. So much to see and expierance.
ReplyDeleteAh Paris, would love to "inhale some humanity". I would love to be in Paris, we went with the boys last summer. Heaven (though I felt like cattle at times too).
ReplyDeleteAnother European traveler, hope you had fun!
ReplyDeleteI literally ache for Paris sometimes. We lived there for 12 years...and this beautifully captures so much of the feel of being there. There is no end to the number of times I could wander those museums ~ the timelessness and power humbles me and, yes, fills my soul. Thanks for this!
ReplyDeleteTraipsing around Paris Museums in the rain--how quaintly fun! Here's my favorite:
ReplyDelete"As we inhale
the timeless art,
drops of our spirit,
seep back into our core."
...as drops of rain
water-slide
down our arms... I LIKE this, yup!
The weariness of acquiring culture

Perfect snapshot of the experience, Ayala. I lived there for a few months and you caught it. Glad you linked it to dVerse. I always enjoy visiting your blog.
ReplyDeleteLauren, I was just there and I wish I could go back :)
ReplyDeleteWolfrosebud, I had a great time, thank you.

Thank you, Oceangirl. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, and Aloha Cloudia. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's so true that experiencing art is one way to expand ourselves. I love visiting museums at any hour -- when it's crowded, the external energy from others enhances the experience. When it's empty, all sorts of stirrings well up internally. I love how you ended this:
ReplyDelete"drops of our spirit,
seep back into our core"
Belinda, I love it too. Art is like words are to me. I feel so moved and I feel such delight.....Thank you.
ReplyDeletevery beautifully crafted :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Baishali. :)
ReplyDeletethis is lovely, and, like claudia's poem on rome, made me nostalgic with my own too-brief memories there! you capture the city beautifully in this little verse. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Joanna. :)
ReplyDeleteI can really relate to "drops of our spirit seep back into our soul." Beautifully expressed.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lady Jennie. :)
ReplyDeleteI would love to visit Paris someday! The cattle comment is funny but your point about feeling like a butterfly - I can see that too. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mel. :)
